Things were not good in the Gaza Strip before the Israeli attacks. The Strip has been under economic siege for more than 16 years, in addition to being subjected to three wars by Israel, which led to difficult economic and social conditions, the most prominent of which were the increase in unemployment and poverty rates. In the middle of 2020, Palestinian Statistics Authority data showed that the unemployment rate in Gaza reached 49.1%, the youth unemployment rate in Gaza is 65%, and 85% of the population of the Strip lives below the poverty line.
